Dwarf Butterfly Bush – Buddleia x ‘blue chip’

Buddleia x 'blue chip’

This flowering shrub has it all. Prolific blooms throughout July till frost.  It stays dwarf about 3ft. tall by 3ft. wide.  This Butterfly bush is deer resistant and can handle dry conditions once it is established.  From my experience you may need to protect this plant during the winter months by mulching in the root system (place copious amounts of mulch 4-6 inches over the root zone)  Also you will need to cut back the plant in early spring and allow fresh new growth to generate from the main stem.  If you have the butterfly bush planted near a walkway during the winter shovel the snow off of your walkway and bury the butterfly bush to help insulate it from cold negative Fahrenheit winter temperatures.
