Sugar Maple – Acer saccharum ‘Commemoration’
A native tree to the Hudson Valley region, the Sugar Maple grows in un-compacted well draining native soils. The sugar maple can be tapped to harvest the tree's sap in late winter / early spring for production of maple syrup. Once you have collected a pail you can boil down the sap to make syrup. The sugar maple has a beautiful autumn color and looks amazing on the crest of a hill by itself in the morning sun.
